The Business Councils often hold breakfasts, lunches, seminars and networking events focusing
on a particular issue, economy or guest speaker. The Chamber houses the secretariat services for a number of business councils
and would like to announce the following business events:

NZPNG Annual General Meeting and Luncheon

The New Zealand Papua New Guinea Business Council ran their Annual General Meeting in August.
The AGM was followed by a two-course luncheon where there was the opportunity to network with other members and supporters of the Council before an address from Papua New Guinea High Commissioner, HE Mr William Dihm.
Bastille Day 2010 with the FNZCCI
The French New Zealand Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNZCCI) had its first major event of 2010, the annual Bastille Day celebration, hosted by our newest member, Glengarry. Timed perfectly to fit in with Glengarry’s series of French events in July, guests were welcomed on the night with a glass of Pol Roger champagne, followed by canapés and a selection of red and white French wines. 
There was live music performed by Maurice Jones, a champion piano accordion player, and all guests had the chance to win fantastic prizes from the business card draw.
PNG: Meet the High Commissioner to PNG

Working lunch with Marion Crawshaw, High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea
The Papua New Guinea Business Council was delighted host the new High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea, career Diplomat, Marion Crawshaw.
Ms Crawshaw was formerly Director of the Knowledge Services Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and has previous postings in Honiara, Suva, Paris, and Rome. She takes up her appointment in mid 2010, replacing Niels Holm, who is returning to Wellington.
Foreign Minister Murray McCully, who announced the new post late last year, said "New Zealand and Papua New Guinea enjoy a close relationship across a range of areas, including a large aid and development relationship, defence cooperation, and commercial and business linkages. There are also strong personal links between our countries, with many New Zealanders working in PNG as volunteers or with NGOs and church groups."

Cocktails with Papua New Guinea Prime Minister
The Papua New Guinea Business Council in association with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade was delighted host a cocktail event in April, with Rt Honourable Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare and members of his
official delegation.
The Prime Minister, here as a guest of the New Zealand Government, demonstrated our Governments commitment to further strengthening the bilateral relationship between our two countries.
Papua New Guinea: Opportunities in Markets

The multi-billion dollar ExxonMobil LNG Project has opened up the Papua New Guinea market dramatically and there is a growing demand for everything from food to construction materials and technical knowhow.
In March, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise and the New Zealand Papua New Guinea Business Council held a working lunch for a high level delegation from Queensland led by Hon Stephen Robertson MP, Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy and Minister for Trade, and Mr Ian Fletcher, Director-General, Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation.
Queensland has a strong connection with PNG. This event enabled attendees to find out how their business can take advantage of Australian connections into PNG.
Papua New Guinea – The ‘Inside Word’
Guests found out why Papua New Guinea is grabbing the attention of engineering companies, service providers and construction businesses, and learnt how to take advantage of the opportunities on offer with an overview of the trade relationships from an NZTE expert.
Tenix Robt Stone shared a report on the exciting developments in the PNG Highlands from the Executive Director of Oxfam, New Zealand.
