New Zealand's next High Commissioner to Singapore will be career diplomat Peter Hamilton, Foreign Minister Murray McCully announced last week. Mr Hamilton will also be cross-accredited to the Republic of Maldives.
Mr Hamilton is currently Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He has served as Ambassador in Berlin, and High Commissioner in Apia, and also been posted to Suva, Ottawa, and Geneva.
The Foundation for Research, Science and Technology is offering technology development grants aimed at firms with high R&D intensity with a successful track record in R&D.
The Foundation will run one competitive investment round this year for which $22.5m is available.

Greenbuild is the world's largest conference and expo dedicated to green building. Nearly 30,000 attendees and over 1,000 exhibitors are expected for this year’s event.

The FTA Join Commission seeks your feedback
A formal review of the New Zealand-China Free Trade Agreement is due to take place before 1 October 2010.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) is leading an NZ Inc review of the FTA. New Zealand and China will then discuss the outcome of their respective reviews at the second FTA Joint Commission, to be held in Beijing in early November.
An important component of the process is business consultation. MFAT aims to reach as wide a distribution of New Zealand businesses trading with, or in China as possible. They have launched an online business survey covering a variety of aspects of the FTA as they affect businesses. The survey can be accessed by clicking here.
