CadetMax is an employment programme run by the Auckland Chamber of Commerce to find career launch opportunities for talented 16-19 year olds.

The Chamber’s Manukau office is dedicated to sourcing, assessing and preparing youth candidates for employment in cadetship or apprenticeship positions. The programme includes mentoring the cadet as well as supporting the employer with a structured development process throughout the first year.

CadetMax can employ the apprentice or you can employ the cadet directly.

What is an apprenticeship or cadetship?

An apprenticeship or cadetship is a full time paid employment position which involves learning the trade on the job.

All the youths will work towards an appropriate qualification; either a traditional apprenticeship with both on and off job assessment/ ITO’s or by attending an educational institute part time.

What does CadetMax do?

• Selects the cadets and deliver a 2-week induction course covering job readiness, employer norms and expectations, skills and attributes, Site Safe Passport.
• Meets with the family and support network.
• Prepares a training needs analysis and training plan with the employer.
• Arranges training, external assessment and courses. Limited funding is available to assist.
• Visit the cadet once a month for a minimum of 1 year.
• Provides numeracy, literacy and additional training where needed. (e.g. forklift licence, computer training).*
